What We Believe

Our Beliefs
At Holy Trinity Anglican Church, our faith is rooted in the historic Christian tradition and lived out in the life of our local community. What we believe shapes how we worship, how we serve, and how we love our neighbours.

Scripture
We believe that the Bible is the inspired Word of God and is essential for teaching, correcting, and training us in righteousness. Through Scripture, God reveals his character, his purposes, and his saving work in Jesus Christ, guiding the Church in faith and life (2 Timothy 3:16).

The Triune God
We believe in one God who exists eternally as three persons: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. This mystery of the Trinity is the foundation of Christian faith and love, revealed in Scripture and experienced in the life of the Church (John 1:1; 2 Corinthians 13:14).

Jesus Christ
We believe that Jesus Christ is the divine Son of God, born of the Virgin Mary, fully human and fully divine. He lived a sinless life, died on the cross for the sins of humanity, and was raised bodily from the dead on the third day. He ascended into heaven, is seated at the right hand of the Father, and will return in glory to renew all things.

Salvation and Baptism
We believe in one baptism for the forgiveness of sins. Through baptism, believers are welcomed into new life as children of God, made possible by the finished work of Jesus Christ on the cross. (Acts 2:38).

Sacraments and the Church
We participate in the sacraments ordained by Christ himself and received through the ministry of the apostolic Church. In Word and Sacrament, God nourishes, sustains, and sends his people for the life of the world. We affirm the historic faith of the Church as expressed in the Apostles’ Creed and the Nicene Creed.

Worship
God is the centre of our worship. Worship is not only something we do on Sundays, but a fundamental orientation of our whole lives. By placing the God of Scripture at the centre of all that we do, individually and communally, we offer both adoration and allegiance to our Creator.

Life in Community
We seek to continue in the apostles’ teaching and fellowship, in the breaking of bread, and in the prayers. Together, we strive to proclaim the good news of God in Christ by word and example, and to seek and serve Christ in all people, loving our neighbours as ourselves. We aim to persevere in resisting evil, and when we fall into sin, to repent and return to the Lord, trusting in God’s mercy and grace.

Justice, Dignity, and Creation
We believe that God calls the Church to reflect his love and justice in the world. We acknowledge a call to greater diversity in membership, wider participation in ministry and leadership, faithful stewardship of God’s creation, and a stronger resolve to challenge attitudes and structures that cause injustice. We endeavour to strive for justice and peace among all people, and to respect the dignity of every human being.

Stewardship and Service
As individuals and as a church community, we recognize that we have been entrusted with many gifts—time, talents, resources, and relationships. We seek to use these gifts generously and responsibly, caring for one another and sharing what we have in a way that reflects God’s abundant love for all creation. Guided by the Holy Spirit, we commit ourselves to respond to God’s call in love and service, seeking to more fully live the life of Christ for the sake of our neighbours and the world.
